About the event
Don’t miss this special preview of the book Bureaucratic Smokescreens: Aid-Diplomacy Mergers and the Politics of Foreign Policy Reform. Author Rachel A. George will share insights from research on development and diplomacy integrations in Denmark, Norway, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Did these mergers advance foreign policy and security goals? As the United States considers its options in the current context, does the rhetoric match the evidence? Dr. George will help us unpack what the answer means for the future of U.S. foreign assistance.
Rachel A. George is a lecturer in international relations at Stanford University and a nonresident scholar with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She is also a research associate with the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in London and an Affiliate with Stanford’s Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC).
The session will be moderated by Vera Zlidar from Aid on the Hill’s Advisory Board.
