Our vision
U.S. foreign assistance reflects our nation’s generosity and anchors America’s foreign policy, advancing security, prosperity, and opportunity worldwide.
Our mission
Aid on the Hill brings together aid professionals, advocates, and citizens to take action. We mobilize, organize, and educate so that the U.S. can once again have an independent foreign assistance agency that is a vital tool for peace, prosperity, and partnership.
Why this matters
Foreign aid is not just charity—it's a smart investment in America's future. Here's why:
It solves problems that affect us all.
Diseases, conflicts, climate change, and mass migration don't respect borders. By working with other countries on these challenges, we protect American interests and communities.
It reflects who we are.
Americans have always stepped up to help others in need. Foreign aid shows the world our values and builds goodwill towards the US.
It helps the American economy.
Many countries that received U.S. aid decades ago are now our biggest trading partners. When other nations prosper, they buy American products, which creates jobs here at home.
Our goals

1
Keep aid money flowing.
We want Congress to fund programs across areas such as health, agriculture, education, clean water, and economic growth that support both humanitarian needs and long-term development.
2
Make sure foreign aid follows the law.
We want aid funding to be used as Congress intended—with the right programs, the right amounts, and strong oversight by skilled staff to ensure fairness and transparency.
3
Restore an independent aid agency.
We want to re-establish an independent agency in the U.S. government to run foreign aid with a focus on smart, evidence-based development.
Who we talk to:

Our main audience is Congress. We focus on the Members of Congress and their staff who work on committees that control foreign aid money, laws, and oversight. We rally our community of aid professionals, supporters, and engaged citizens to educate Congress on two things:

-
Why foreign assistance is vital to America's economy and national security.
-
How foreign assistance works.
As experts who designed and managed foreign assistance programs, we give Congress practical advice and recommendations. We hope this helps them restore and strengthen a well-designed, independent foreign assistance agency.
Our secondary audience is the American public. We train and help citizens understand both why foreign assistance matters and how it works. We also help them talk to Congress. This builds a more informed and active group of supporters for smart, effective American global leadership.
